Intriguing? We thought so. The Hypogeum is believed to have contained the remains of over 7,000 people, as documented by archeologists – the remains are now housed at the Museum of Archeology. The Hypogeum is also one of the finest examples of prehistoric temples in Malta. Look out for the so-called Oracle Room, a resonance chamber designed to project chanting and drumming.

Here, you can meander around the streets of the Three Cities, taking in the old way of life. The small stretch of water that straddles Comino and the even smaller Cominotto is called the Blue Lagoon, and a fitting name it is, too.
